60 Years 60 Words
Two special memories about alma mater. My grandma would always be the first one I need to thank for. It was she who encouraged me to go for LSPS. Yu Sir, who was my school football team coach and the PE teacher of myself and my son David, is definitely the role model of generations.

Thank you La Salle Primary School for giving me a wonderful childhood with lots of treasured memories. She built my valuable friendship ever since; taught me to overcome hard times with tons of homework & red in exams, and forgave my stupid attitude with my naughty classmates. She shaped my qualities of being a gentleman, whom we called Lasallian.

My mother often reminds me that once she accidently heard a chat between Brother Henry and a La Salle boy. Brother Henry smiled and said, “You are so lucky that you do not need to buy new textbooks this academic year”. The boy appeared to be shy and embarrassed. Brother Henry was so generous and humorous to the repeater!

I am always proud to be a Lasallian. The school motto of La Salle “Fides et Opera” (“信德善行”) has been my inspiration as well as my guiding light throughout different stages in my life. I truly deeply thank LSPS for shaping me into the person I am today. Happy 60th Anniversary LSPS!

Back then we had to write an entry test for each primary school of our choice. But LSPS has a totally different test than all other schools. Instead of answering Chinese, English and Arithmetic questions, each of us was given a crayon to complete IQ test questions, followed by an interview with Brother Henry. That’s why we’re something more!

Articulating my precious memories at LSPS in 60 words is almost like an unattainable assignment at HKUST since there is so much to say about my beloved alma mater. I can vividly recall the days I spent on studying studiously over the years. I will treasure the La Salle spirit that defines who I am for the rest of my life. Thank you LSPS!

The memory is so vivid when the bell tolled for recess. Every single one of us dashed to the tuck shop. I still cannot figure out how so many students from other classes managed to arrive before I had a chance to grab the last piece of my favourite snack. Love you so, LSPS.

The Lasallian Spirit has been with me for 12 years, and it will be with me for the rest of my life. I still remember every single moment in LSPS, chasing after one another in the football field, lining up for food in the tuck shop, and of course being scolded by prefects and teachers. Haha, LSPS was simply wonderful.

There were a lot of good and sad memories in my 6 years in LSPS and just too many to mention. Perhaps, 1 could be shared. I was some time in P1 to P3 participating a swimming competition where my father was one of the judges. I was in lane no 1 and very nervous. At last, I could not swim through but used the side liner to finish the race last.

60 years are just a snapshot in history, but 60 years of LSPS has already nurtured thousands of brilliant graduates who are pillars of the society of Hong Kong. Wish LSPS continues to play a significant role in local education and continues to contribute to the society of Hong Kong. Happy 60th Anniversary LSPS!

LSPS will forever be sweet in my memories of growing up. As a little boy, the school was a huge part of my world; the teachers and school mates, the most important people outside my family. That’s where many basic life skills were honed, learning to listen, to ask, to give, to compromise, to share, to cherish and to love.

51 years ago, I first met Bro Henry for the interview which my dear mother had lined up overnight to secure. In his frigid office, I answered a few questions asked in English which I didn't really understand but I murmured a few words anyway. Then there was the IQ test which I must have done well for I got that admission which forever bettered my life.

Mrs Wang, definitely. How can we ever forget the soul of our primary years?

Thank you Mom!

I recently thanked my mother for 3 things which have changed my life. The first and possibly most important one was sending me to LSPS. I still remembered how obsessed I was with the school when I saw the football pitch and swimming pool through the window on a bus. Thankful for being admitted and becoming a lifelong Lasallian.
